Long Bio (300 words)
Barbara LeForge is a Christian author, educator, and community journalist whose life and writing are shaped by a deep commitment to faith, service, and honest storytelling. Born with a connection to the historic landscapes of Steilacoom, Washington, she carries that sense of place and heritage into everything she writes. A veteran's wife and mother of four, Barbara built her professional life around service to others—first as a special education teacher, and later as a dedicated homeschooling parent. Her work in education instilled in her a belief in the power of story to help people make sense of their lives, their losses, and their faith. Her debut memoir, By Still Waters: Finding Grace Through Grief, grew out of one of the most difficult seasons of her own life: the death of her estranged mother and the grief that followed—not only for what was lost, but for what never had the chance to be. With honesty and spiritual depth, the book traces her journey through guilt, regret, and the slow work of forgiveness, arriving at a profound understanding of God's mercy in the unresolved places of our hearts. In addition to her writing, Barbara serves as the editor of the Golden Strip News, where she works to build community and belonging across the Upstate South Carolina region. When she is not writing or editing, she can be found tending her garden or planning her family's next travel adventure. Barbara is currently at work on a small group workbook companion to By Still Waters, designed for church communities and grief ministries, with a planned release of Summer 2026. She lives in South Carolina with her family and is committed to a lifelong journey of growing her relationship with God.
